SVETLOGORSK, Kaliningrad Region, Oct 31 (PRIME) -- The Russian authorities will provide 550 billion rubles of additional spending on upgrades in primary healthcare from the federal and regional budgets over the next five years, First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anton Siluanov told reporters on Thursday.

“The position of the governors was defined following a two-day discussion about the need to provide money for upgrades in primary healthcare, and it falls in line with the estimates of the government. It says that about 550 billion rubles are necessary in the next five years,” he said.

“This is additional spending to what we have in the budget starting from next year,” he said, adding that the additional spending in 2020 will amount to 50 billion rubles and will be raised in the following years.

“In the five years, we are ready to upgrade rural medical stations, polyclinics, district hospitals completely together with the Russian regions in proportion of 90% to 10% on average, where Russia will cover 90% of the spending and a region will cover 10%,” he said.
